Remodeling Contractor, Contractor Kitchen Bathroom, General Remodeling
Hello and welcome to the Christian Construction website.
My name is Jim Christian. I started Christian Construction in 1992 because I wanted to offer a style of construction service that would put the homeowner in the front seat next to us. That way when we built their projects they could adjust things along the way to their liking. We were successful with this strategy and found our customers enjoyed the flexibility and access during the construction process plus it saved them money. It made their finished product even better without creating major delays and they told their friends about it. It’s that philosophy in building that we started with and still maintain.

The "River House" for the doc's. Making new and preserving at the same time.
A large eucalyptus tree fell on my home during a big storm. It did extensive damage to a fence, my roof, outside stucco walls, gutters, patio, one bedroom, kitchen, etc. Water damage was also involved in two rooms. I immediately contacted my insurance company and
had the tree taken off my house and had tarps put on the roof to mitigate damage. Fans and dehumidifiers were used approximately one week to minimize water damage to a bedroom floor and ceiling. A friend recommended Christian Construction because he was very pleased with some major remodeling work the company had done at his home in the past. I met with the general contractor and insurance claim representative and the insurance company had no problem with me having the work done by Christian Construction. The work was extensive, so engineers and designers were involved. Christian Construction gave me suggestions regarding new flooring, replacing wallpaper with texturing and painting, etc. The final decisions were mine, but I took their suggestions and I am very pleased with the final results. There were additional items involved [ damage unrelated to the fallen tree ], so I had Christian Construction also take care of those problems. In total, my insurance covered all expenses [except those not involved with my claim], and the payments/funding issues went very smoothly. The city/county inspections went very smoothly as well. Christian Construction, under the management of Jim Christian, is a very professional, customer oriented business. I am very pleased with the final product!

While on a two week vacation this past January, a water value cracked in the upstairs laundry room. At least a week later I came home to a house with both stories flooded. After drying the house and having ripped the sheetrock, cabinets and flooring out, I hired Jim Christian to remodel my house. The kitchen, formal dining and living room were stripped to stud walls. The upstairs bathroom, laundry room and 3 bedrooms were also down to the stud walls. The heating ducts under the raised floor and in walls had to be replaced. All kitchen cabinets were removed. Jim was responsive to my call. The house was 25 years old so I wanted it rebuilt and modernized. Jim has plenty of experience with custom homes so he had great ideas. The contract was for $91000. I added about $10000 to the job based on recommendations by Jim. I pulled the water heater and added a tankless water heater. I used a nicer grade of hybrid flooring and glass tile for the kitchen and bathrooms and modern fixtures that really made those rooms look great and I had my big screen tv wall mounted. There were lots of custom touches to his work, Jim's crew of 2 extremely experienced workers and they can build/install anything. The drywall, a/c ducts, flooring and painting was sub-contracted, but Jim had each of those subs back to fix small errors. He has a critical eye, so he noticed things that I didn't but I was glad that he did so I didn't fret about it. The job took longer than I anticipated, but I am very happy with the result. Some of the delay was due to sub-contractor availability. Jim is very easy to work with, polite and professional. I recommend him for any of your needs.

This bathroom on the main floor has high visibility and needed updating. Jim and his crew were able to start the job soon after initial contact. Jim met me to look at tile, sharing his expertise, while respecting my taste and choices. He directed me to the other appropriate businesses for selection of the vanity and other materials. I had been dreading this project and Jim made it easy for me. Bill did the majority of the work on the room. He is a true craftsman, paying attention to detail and taking pride in being extremely precise. I remember the day he was delighted about the perfect cut and fit of the trim inlay on the counter top back splash. Bill was always on time, very professional, and I'm surprised at how neat he was able to be during the project. My home was treated with respect. The work is of high quality and the materials used are also high quality. The project was absolutely worth the cost. I wanted an elegant, yet understated, modern room and that is what I got. This was a very positive experience and I would definitely use this company in the future.

I initially contacted Jim after normal work hours and Jim responded back immediately. He visited our home to see the work we wanted done which was a total gutting of our kitchen. We decided on Jim's company to do the work because we felt comfortable with him. He is very professional and his demeanor is very pleasant. Work began on June 8th with the demolition of our kitchen. His crew arrived on time and worked very hard. The demo took a little longer then Jim had predicted due to our house is old and the old sub floor had a previous installer who had gone crazy with a staple gun which all had to be removed. Once the demo had been completed the new installation started. Jim recognized that the present floor decking frame was not stable enough for our new tile floor so new bracing was installed. We had sheet rock damage to our ceiling so this was repaired and new texturing was done to both our ceiling and walls. The texturing is really beautiful. Jim utilizes marble and granite companies whose work was excellent. The grain of the wood on our cabinets flows from one cabinet and drawer to the next. The granite countertop was installed in the same fashion with the flow of the granite going in one direction. The tile installation of the floor and back splash handled by AJ really adds to the beauty of the kitchen. Jim met us at a tile store to help us select what tiles would enhance the overall look. A lot of electrical work was required which was handled very efficiently by Jarrett who really had the knowledge and ability to do just about everything. I take this time to apologize to Jarrett for calling him Jarad the entire time he worked at our home. Jim's crew are so nice and a pleasure to work with that Jarrett did not bother to correct me. When our electrical panel was moved Jim prepared me that I might be without power for an a day. Jim coordinated with the utility company and the hard work of Jarrett so this did not occur. Overall, we are thrilled with our new kitchen. Jim is certainly a perfectionist which his crew also demonstrates. Jim was very attentive to our kitchen project. He visited our residence frequently to guarantee that everything went well and was on time. Our expectations were more than surpassed.

|1) I interviewed 6 contractors before settling on Christian Construction. Jim Christian remodeling a balcony at another home for me 16 years ago.
|2) I was looking for a contractor, who would work with me. Decisions were made throughout the construction period of 10 months.
|3) the wonderful crew consisted of Bill, Jarrett, Joe and Jim, who paid attention to detail. They are perfectionists.
|4) I selected some of my own subcontractors before hiring Christian Construction, therefore I was very involved. I was at the job site nearly every day.
|5) the Christian Construction crew turned the house into a dream come true.

We cannot recommend JIm Christian and his team highly enough. It is incredibly rare to find a contractor so knowledgeable, responsive, honest, thorough, and willing and able to communicate through a complex job - even above and beyond the call of duty.
I wrote a previous review when Jim diagnosed the serious structural issues caused by an unpermitted and improper remodel in our home in which load bearing walls (yes, plural walls) and supports were either moved or removed completely. Jim alerted us to the serious issues, built the most critical support wall in the same day as an emergency measure, and advised us to seek the advice of an engineer. We did so, and after receiving instructions on what would need to be done to repair our home, we wouldn't consider using anyone except Christian Construction.
Jim and his team returned several months later to complete the work according to the engineer's instructions, and not only do I have total confidence (and our engineer agreed) in the structural fixes provided, as in our last experience with them, everyone was always on-time, professional, helpful, and cleaned up at the end of each work day so that our home was livable during the weeks of work.
In addition to providing us with the peace of mind that our house was structurally sound, the finishing work that Jim's crew does is impeccable. Complicated ceiling patches where beams were inserted through our ceiling are totally invisible, and existing and brand new drywall can't be distinguished along any stretch of wall.
We are completely satisfied and thoroughly impressed with the work that was done and would definitely recommend Christian Construction to anyone considering this type of work.
Description of work:
Repaired home's existing structural problems to engineer's specifications, including installation of three large support beams in attic and home's interior. Completed interior finishing work on walls and ceiling.
